11th January 2008 Dear Parent Welcome back to a new school term. I hope you all had an enjoyable break over Christmas. To start the New Year we are having ‘Keeping Healthy Week’ from Monday 14th January and we shall be having visitors from many local organisations in to school. The details of the week are available in each classroom and there will also be a letter home on Monday. One of the activities for the week will be planting trees. We are developing a woodland area behind the mobile classrooms which will comprise a tree representing each class in our school. The children will be involved in the planting of their tree and so will need to bring Wellington boots to school on Monday in order to take part. We also have some exciting news relating to one of our year 4 pupils. Fergus Drysdale has been filming with the BBC since July 2007 on their drama ‘Larkrise to Candleford’. The story is about a girl called Laura Timmins, who moves house from the village of Larkrise to the town of Candleford. Fergus plays the part of Frank, Laura’s younger brother. The outside filming has taken place locally in Tetbury, Neston and Bradford–on-Avon and the drama stars Dawn French and Julia Sawalha. The series runs for 10 weeks beginning this Sunday at 7.40pm on BBC1. Mr Dysdale said that Fergus had had great fun during filming and had made new friends. He doesn’t have his next role lined up yet but he does have an agent so we’lll let you know of further news! Yours faithfully Jane Ratcliff Head teacher |
